Learning Our Past,
Leading Our Future
Empowering Caribbean leaders through political education, historical understanding, and civic engagement
About the Institute
The Dr. Eric Williams Institute for Political Education honors the legacy of Trinidad and Tobago's first Prime Minister, scholar, and historian who revolutionized our understanding of Caribbean history and politics.
Dr. Williams believed that an educated citizenry was essential for democracy. Through his groundbreaking work "Capitalism and Slavery" and his leadership in the independence movement, he demonstrated the power of combining scholarship with political action.
Today, we continue his mission by providing accessible political education, preserving our historical memory, and empowering the next generation of Caribbean leaders.
