Dr. Jelani I. Reid

Education Officer, People's National Movement

Dr. Jelani I. Reid is a visionary leader, medical doctor, and strategic architect of political education for the People's National Movement (PNM). With over 15 years of experience in high-level political organizing and public advocacy, Dr. Reid has consistently championed the legacy and philosophy of the Party since becoming a member in 2006.

Dr. Reid holds a distinguished record of institutional service, notably making history as the youngest person to serve as Chairman for two separate Constituency Executives: Arouca/Maloney and Trincity/Maloney. His rapid ascent through the Party ranks includes serving as the Public Relations Officer for the National Youth League (2014) and his current roles as a member of the Central Executive (CE) and the General Council (GC).

A medical doctor by profession, Dr. Reid brings a disciplined, clinical approach to governance. His expertise in institutional oversight is further evidenced by his tenure on the Medical Board of Trinidad and Tobago, where he served with distinction as Treasurer and Council Member.

Beyond medicine and politics, Dr. Reid is a seasoned communicator with a strong background in media and digital engagement. As the Co-Founder and Host of The Blueprint Podcast, he utilizes modern platforms to facilitate deep discussions on leadership, national progress, and governance.

His leadership extends into civil society, where he has served as a President of a Community Council since 2011 and has been recognized with the Reginald Dumas Leadership Award from Queen's Royal College.

As Education Officer, Dr. Reid is dedicated to modernizing the Party's educational infrastructure, ensuring the PNM remains a disciplined, ideologically clear, and digitally forward institution.

A Message from the Education Officer

Fellow Members and Citizens,

Welcome to the digital home of the PNM Education Committee.

The People's National Movement (PNM) has always been more than a political party; it is an institution built on the bedrock of discipline, history, and a clear vision for the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. Our strength lies not just in our numbers, but in our Political Intelligence—the collective understanding of our mission, our Constitution, and our role in national development.

As your Education Officer, my vision is to transform how we engage with our legacy and how we prepare for our future. We are moving toward a framework of Institutional Strengthening, where every member is empowered with the knowledge to lead, the clarity to communicate, and the discipline to serve.

Our work is centered on four strategic pillars:

Information

Ensuring every member has access to the foundational truths of our movement.

Education

Cultivating a culture of continuous learning through structured programs and historical continuity.

Communication

Speaking with one cohesive, informed voice across all levels of the Party.

Transformation

Using knowledge as the engine to modernize our operations and develop the next generation of PNM leadership.

This portal is designed to be your primary resource for political literacy. Whether you are a long-standing member or a new supporter, I invite you to explore our archives, engage with our digital content, and join us in the vital work of building a more informed, disciplined, and resilient Movement.

Great is the PNM, and it shall prevail.

People's National Movement

A Message from the Political Leader

Fellow Members of the People's National Movement,

When the People's National Movement was founded, it was not merely a political party; it was an educational uprising. Our Founder, Dr. Eric Williams, did not mobilize people through emotion alone—he mobilized them through knowledge. He understood that a people cannot truly be free until they are educated.

Today, as we relaunch the Dr. Eric Williams Institute for Political Education, we are returning to those very roots. We are reaffirming that the future of our nation is still found in our children's school bags, and the future of our Movement is found in the political literacy and discipline of our members.

A political party that stops learning stops leading. This Institute is not a ceremonial undertaking; it is a generational one.

It exists to:

  • Institutionalize our history so that we are never victims of misinformation.
  • Nurture informed, principled leaders who are ready to govern with intellect and integrity.
  • Empower our youth to take their rightful place in shaping national policy—not decades from now, but today.

I congratulate the Education Committee and its Chair, Dr. Jelani Reid, for this rigorous and strategic initiative. This Institute is the intellectual engine of our Movement and the guardian of our heritage.

I call upon every member, every Party Group, and every Constituency Executive to engage fully with this platform. Let us build leaders, not just followers. Let us build thinkers, not just voters. Together, we will ensure that the People's National Movement remains the premier school of leadership for Trinidad and Tobago.

Great is the PNM, and it shall prevail.
